Kisiwa foundation

kisiwaThis foundation supports projects in Kenya that are aimed at supporting children and young people to help them escape poverty. Through feeding programs for nursery and primary schools, counseling programs, and sponsorship and guidance programs in secondary schools and in high schools, they help them build a solid foundation for a better future. This project at primary schools Kisiwa and Karibaribi and nursery school Suska gives more than 760 children a bowl of porridge every day and 1460 children the chance to have a hot meal at school. They expect this number to increase by 10% next year.

The school meals give parents the motivation to send their children to school even if there is no food at home. The alternative would be for children to start working at a young age to earn a living in some other way. Food security creates a situation where children have energy, are healthy, can concentrate well and come to school every day. In combination with their other projects, this ensures that this generation escapes poverty and builds a good foundation for the next generation.

Structural school meals help students concentrate better, resulting in a big increase in school results. Within their programs, they offer counseling in groups and on a customized basis. Empowerment of girls is an important part of this. Kisiwa Foundation has submitted a request for repairs of the kitchens at the schools.
