Foundation Help Midwives in Kenya
The main goal is to reduce maternal and child mortality in Kenya. This goal is achieved by providing underprivileged students in Kenya with a (partial) scholarship for the obstetrics training. The strength of these local people is made use of by training them. They provide inter obstetric care, access to family planning, health education and further referral if necessary. All this with the aim of giving the communities themselves the tools to provide care for the pregnant women, babies and women in childbirth. A well-functioning health system and trained people are the key to reducing the number of women and children who die before, during or after the birth. Education is of lasting importance and value. In addition, the people themselves are provided with a good education so that an income is created and their family can be supported.
